“The Womb/Ego/God”
When we grow to big for our Mother’s womb, we are expelled into this world and take our first breath. Our lungs expand for the first time and vital fluids for incubation are flushed from our bodies as each organ now functions independently of the Mother. As a child, we have an Ego that makes us feel as if we are Center of the Universe. This Ego, like the womb from which we emerged, allows us to experiment and discover this world with innocence and fearlessness.
What happens, however, when we have outgrown the Ego’s purpose? To what Life are we when expelled? As we hunger for thirst and knowledge, beyond the womb of Ego, the Ego begins to realize a threat to its existence.
And the Ego starts to fight back.
Could it be in the Garden of Eden, the serpent was our Ego? Tempting us to take a bite of the forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge?
And so in this way, our ego tempts us with delights that satiate us on this material plane. The accolades and awards pile up. Our Ego inflates with a false pride.
What is left of us?
What would be left of a child that is spoiled time and time again? A child rewarded for a dirty room? We ask this child to dance and sing for us but not for him or herself.
Likewise the praises we receive often are not of our independent/humble achievements. Instead, these praises are explicit acknowledgement that “we are your keeper. Thank your for accepting this with a smile.”
Where does this leave you and me?
With a very simple, defined, achievable, purpose — the daily eradication of our own ego. It deserves a pounding submission. It deserves no less than to be set free.
SET YOUR EGO FREE. And in this way, may you find serenity, happiness, and purpose in Life.
